How do I upgrade to the Pro Version and set up a custom domain?SYMPTOMS
Our Pro Version allows you to use your tools with your own custom domain, making your tools 100% private branded so that your clients will have absolutely no way of knowing your interactive tools are hosted on our servers. It is quick to set up by following these simple steps:
(1) Log into your control panel and under Settings and Options click the "Upgrade to Pro" link to be directed to the upgrade page. The upgrade cost is $100 per year additional over the $100 standard service rate. Since you are likely in the middle of your subscription term, the system will automatically calculate the prorated upgrade cost. Subsequent renewals will simply renew at the $200 rate from that point forward. Fill in your credit card information and click the "Upgrade My Account" button for instant upgrade.
(2) The next step is to set up your domain name. There are two options available, sub-domain or new domain:
If you wish to use a sub-domain
, i.e. http://clients.mycompany.com,
most website hosting companies allow you to set these up at no cost. Simply contact your website host and tell them you want to set up a CNAME sub-domain. They will likely ask you for the name of your sub-domain (in the case of our example here, it would simply be "clients") and the address to which you would like it to point would be www.ACCOUNT-NAME
.djintelligence.com or www.ACCOUNT-NAME
.eventintelligence.com (NOTE: change ACCOUNT-NAME with the name of your account on our server.)
If you are setting up new domain
, i.e. http://www.mycompanyclients.com,
visit your registrar's website and follow their instructions for registering a new domain (we recommend GoDaddy
). Once you have registered the domain, you will want to go to the section that allows you to control DNS settings. There should be a place to enter a CNAME address for the domain.

In both cases above, these changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate through the internet, so do not be concerned if your new domain does not start working right away. Give it two full days before assuming there is a problem. If you need assistance with this, please contact your web host or registrar directly as we are unable to provide support for 3rd party companies. It is also important to remember that you are fully responsible for renewing your domain name from year to year. We have no control over your domain renewal and if you do not renew, it will cause your website tools to stop functioning. As mentioned above, your website tools will continue to operate through your system URL, so you will always have that as a backup.
(3) Once your domain is set up, log into your control panel and go to the "Company Information" page. Since upgrading, you will notice a new field appear on that page titled "Custom Domain". This is the box in which you should enter the domain you set up in step #2. You must enter the EXACT domain the way you want it to be used. For example, if you registered mycompanyclients.com but intend on using it with the "www", then enter it as "www.mycompanyclients.com". Your tools will only function on the domain in the exact form it is entered here. If you enter "www.mycompanyclients.com" then they will not operate on http://mycompanyclients.com.
Likewise, if you enter "mycompanyclients.com" then they will not operate on http://www.mycompanyclients.com.
Most people are accustomed to typing "www" so this is how we recommend setting it up. If you set up a sub-domain, i.e. http://clients.mycompany.com,
then simply enter "clients.mycompany.com". In all cases you should not enter the "http://".
When complete, save your settings.

(4) Once steps 2 and 3 are complete, you'll want to test your new URL by going to your browser and entering in the URL you set up above. If it is configured correctly, the System Homepage for your tools should come up. If it does not function correctly, make sure to give it a full 48 hours to propagate the internet before beginning troubleshooting. This is most commonly the cause. If after 48 hours it still does not function correctly, you will want to begin troubleshooting (see other FAQ article). Once set up and working properly you are now free to start using your new unique website tools URL in any place you desire. It can be replaced in any location you currently use the system URL. If you re-visit the Code Builder section of your control panel, it will give you new HTML code using your unique website tools URL. Feel free to update any and all text and/or image links on your website. Also feel free to start giving out your new URL to clients so they can access your website tools directly. Your tools will continue to function in parallel on the system URL indefinitely so that you can update the links on your website and/or notify your clients over time.
